Maintaining good health can be difficult, even though the world has been graced with many advancements in healthcare over the past century.
Good health requires a delicate balance of life that is simple but often difficult to attain.
Whatever our situation may be, we should look at our health with the eyes of God and seek to preserve this “temple” of our body with his help.
Here is a short prayer for good health adapted from The Catholic prayer book and manual of meditations.
Merciful Jesus, may I be entirely changed in heart and mind. No disease can resist your all-healing power; if you command, all maladies must obey. Say then to my soul, as you did to the leper, “Be made clean.” That word will restore me to health; for as your word alone created me, so your word can again repair me. But also, in your mercy root out self-love from my soul, it being the cause of all my evils. I know you are more anxious to grant my petitions, than I am to obtain them. Do then what you so much desire. Grant me, dear Jesus, your love, and a true zeal for your glory. Amen.
