Pope Francis will preside at the ordination Mass of nine new priests from his Diocese of Rome on April 25.
The Mass will be in St. Peter’s Basilica and be broadcast by Vatican media.
The deacons who are about to be ordained come from three Roman seminaries.
Six are from the pontifical Roman seminary, two from the diocesan college Redemptoris Mater, and one from the seminary of Our Lady of Divine Love. Six of them are Italians, one is Romanian, one is Colombian and the last Brazilian.
They are currently on a spiritual retreat in a monastery.
In 2020, due to the health crisis, the priestly ordinations that the pontiff usually celebrates on “Good Shepherd Sunday” – three weeks after Easter – had to be postponed.
They were eventually celebrated by the vicar of Pope Francis for the Diocese of Rome, Cardinal Angelo De Donatis, in the Basilica of Saint John Lateran.
