A visually impaired freshman with a passion for cross-country running is able to compete thanks to a rope and a kind-hearted, speedy fourth-grader.
As reported in USA Today, Paul Scott, a high school student, is able to push his limits thanks to pairing up with a younger fellow athlete, Rebel Hays. The two boys are linked with a rope as they navigate lengthy, uneven courses. While Scott can feel a great sense of achievement, he can also inspire others with disabilities to try and fulfill their dreams.
Hays, however, is a great example of how kindness and consideration for others can really make a difference in someone’s life. The boys hope their friendship and running abilities will encourage other schools to look into this buddy system of running.
