In 1917, the Virgin Mary appeared to three shepherd children near Fatima, Portugal. She spoke to them for several months, culminating in a miraculous vision seen by hundreds of witnesses.
During many of the visions the Blessed Mother spoke to the children and gave them specific instructions, often encouraging them to pray. Her words were at times comforting, but also challenging, giving the children (and the world) the great task of praying for peace.
There was one particular message that clearly reveals her motherly heart, desiring to give peace and refreshment to the suffering.
Are you suffering a great deal? Don’t lose heart. I will never forsake you. My Immaculate Heart will be your refuge and the way that will lead you to God.
Be at peace with those words today, and run to Mary, a refuge in times of trial.
