Peace among all peoples is always a goal of political leaders and citizens of a country, but we should always strive for a peace that will endure, and not a “false peace.”
This type of peace is something not easily acquired and in fact, it is a gift from God. It is a peace that begins in the heart, healing past wounds and changing our attitude towards others.
Here is a prayer adapted from the Raccolta that highlights that need for true peace, which comes from God.
O God, from whom proceed all holy desires, allright counsels and just works; grant to us yourservants that peace which the world cannot give,a peace that endures,that our hearts may be devoted to your service, andthatwe may pass our time in peace under yourprotection. Amen.
