Take a look at these meaningful practices Catholics partake in to celebrate this holy season.

Lent is a period of time when we focus on growing closer to God through prayer, sacrifices, and almsgiving. And while certain Lenten practices are common in North America — like giving up chocolate, saving change for Catholic Charities’ Rice Bowl program, or attending Mass more often — in countries far and wide, Christians observe other Lenten traditions that may not be as familiar to us but are still inspirational.

If you click on launch slideshow below, you’ll get a little insight as to how food, celebrations, and processions all play an integral part in Christian’s lives around the world during this Lenten season. And if you and your family have any special traditions over Lent, we’d love to hear about them in the comments below!
