Every year the Westminster Cathedral Choir rings in Christmas with their annual concert. It’s an event that’s breathtaking in sight and sound, as the choir, made up of 20 boy trebles and altos aged 8-13 and 10 professional Lay Clerks, sing traditional Christmas carols in a candle-lit Westminster Cathedral, the mother church of the Catholic Church of England and Wales.
This year the choir and orchestra performed music by J. S. Bach, Mozart, Handel, Poulenc, Howells, Warlock, Darke, Mawby and Esenvalds. Founded in 1901, the Choir is the only Catholic cathedral choir in the world to sing daily Mass and Vespers, while also performing concerts at home and abroad.
