For some, it really is the most wonderful time of the year.

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year!” so the song goes. And for some, this is absolutely true. If you are filled with joy, positive anticipation, and wonder this Christmas, then here is a prayer for you. And even if you’re not, these words may help lift your spirits and bring you glimmers of hope, which is what this season is all about.

Divine Trinity, You are ineffable beauty and radiance. You are simple Truth and absolute Goodness. All good and perfect gifts come from You alone. I thank You for this time of year. I thank You for this season of my life, for joy and laughter and fellowship. I thank You for everything that makes this time of year so wonderful and for each person who contributes to it. I ask that You continue to fill me with joy and gratitude and that You allow me to spread that joy to every person I meet. I ask that my joy be a source of hope and encouragement for others so that those who are struggling might find peace in You. Mother Mary, I pray that I can share in Your joy this Christmas. That you share with me, your [daughter/son], the humility and trust in the Lord you experienced at the birth of your Son Jesus. St. Joseph, I ask that you also intercede for me and protect me from temptation that I may fully participate in the joy and purity of this celebration. I ask that you welcome me into the Holy Family this Christmas to share your love. I ask all this in the Name of Jesus Christ, my Savior. Amen.
