Created by Credit Card Compare, the map labels each country with the oldest known literal translation of its name. This might not be terribly exciting for those hailing from the United States of America (which, unsurprisingly, literally means “United States of America”), but for countries much older, the names are often more unexpected. The history of each country makes for a fascinating study into the origins of the universal Church and the diversity of the world we are called to respect and love.
