The changing of the liturgical seasons gives us all a time to step-back and reorient our prayer lives. Often we can get into a routine of prayer that becomes dry, where we say the words but don’t let them reach our hearts.
Advent is a perfect time of the year to mix it up a little bit by changing the way we say our meal prayers.
There are several different options in the Book of Blessingspublished by the USCCB, one of which is short and simple and can keep the spirit of Advent alive in our hearts.
Let us live soberly, justly, and devoutly in this world.R. As we wait in joyful hope for the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.Lord, you have fed us from your gifts and favors; fill us with your mercy, for you live and reign for ever and ever. R. Amen.
If you are looking to get out of a spiritual rut, consider changing your mealtime prayer and prepare your heart for the coming of the Savior at Christmas!
