Using animated illustrations of Lewis’ philosophical and theological writing, the artist behind the videos brings Lewis’ words to life by adding a compelling visual element to his writing.
Lewis, the author of the popular Chronicles of Narnia series, was perhaps the greatest Christian apologist of the 20th century, and even today, in an increasingly secularized world, he continues to earn a loyal readership among people of all denominations.
His book Mere Christianity has sold more than 3.5 million copies since 2001, has been translated into at least 26 languages, and is responsible for bringing untold numbers of souls to the Christian faith.
Using the same sort of colorful imagery and metaphors as his fiction, Lewis made the case for Christianity in his nonfiction writing, much of which rose out of a series of popular wartime BBC radio broadcasts. These literary tools lend themselves particularly well to illustration, and that is exactly what the creator of the YouTube channel C.S. Lewis Doodle delivers.
In the video featured below, the C.S. Lewis Doodler recreates Lewis’ original radio broadcast, “‘Right & Wrong’ – A Clue to the Meaning of the Universe,” which later formed the basis of the first chapter of Mere Christianity.
