Death is not a subject most of us like to think about. When we think of our own death, it can fill us with fear and anxiety. And remembering our loved ones who have gone before us can make us feel sad and lonely.
But the month of November gives us an opportunity to reflect on the fact that we remain connected to our deceased loved ones, and that, as Christians, we have the hope of heaven.
The saints knew this better than anyone and today — All Saints Day — is the special day of the year when we celebrate all of them. As we honor these holy men and women, let’s consider what some of them have said about the pain, suffering, and anxiety that is frequently associated with death. Their words of wisdom illustrate how death truly is the pathway to eternal life where we will meet our loved ones again surrounded by God’s love.
