The World Youth Day in Panama this January will bring a unique novelty: “Follow JC Go!” – a mobile phone app that will have participants creating an eTeam (evangelization team) made up of friends as well as biblical characters and Marian advocations, blesseds, and saints.
“Follow JC Go!” is a videogame based on geolocation and includes some elements of augmented reality. It’s already jokingly being called the “Pokémon GO of WYD.”
It was developed by the Ramón Pané Foundation in collaboration with the organizers of WYD 2019.
The eTeam will help participants to generate a collection of characters (virtual and real) that will accompany them throughout their day during the WYD pilgrimage, as well as to other religious events in the world.
Players must complete individual tasks and group missions: from searching and answering trivia questions to incorporating collectables and souvenirs into their eTeam.
