The English word “conversion” comes from the Latin convertere literally meaning “to turn around.” This is what it means when a person converts to Christianity, turning their entire lives around, focusing it on Jesus Christ.
Typically this is a gradual process, where one turns around slowly over time. However, on rare occasions this can be instantaneous after experiencing a miraculous event.
