With the 2018 World Cup starting tomorrow, let’s hope all the players get a look at this viral video of a youth baseball game in Minnesota last week to remember how sportsmanship should be done.
Mounds View High School pitcher Ty Koehn struck out his childhood friend, Jack Kocon of Totino-Grace, a nearby Catholic school, to end the game and advance his team to the finals. But clearly their friendship was first on his mind. Watch how he passes over a congratulations from his catcher to first run and hug his distraught buddy instead.
According to bringmethenews.com, the two played in little league together and have been friends since 13.
“I knew the game was going to keep going or it was going to end right there,” Koehn told the Minnesota site. “I knew I had to say something. Our friendship is more important than just the silly outcome of a game. I had to make sure he knew that before we celebrated.”
