CECILIA MUSIC: Dear Taylor, please introduce yourself for our readers…
Hello Cecilia! My name is Taylor Tripodi. Pronounced Trip-oh- dee.
I am 23 years old and the oldest of 9 … yes, nine children (my mother is amazing). I graduated from Franciscan University in 2016, where I studied Theology and Catechetics, which was incredible! I absolutely love Jesus, scented candles, foreign accents, Polaroid pictures, voice impressions, adventuring, hummingbirds, warm sandy beaches, Theology of the Body, and creating alongside the ultimate Creator.
Music is one of my many passions, and I am so thrilled that I can share this passion with you! I have had the opportunity to sing and lead worship for so many wonderful people over the years, and I am constantly in awe of the power of God to change hearts through music. What a joy it is to be a vessel for His love for my brothers and sisters in Christ! I pray that every act of my voice will give glory to our Lord for all He has done for us and for giving us hope through His death and resurrection.
Tell us about your new song. What is the inspiration behind “You Heard My Name”?
The song “You Heard My Name” was first conceived while on a pilgrimage in the Holy Land. To be more specific, while I was on the steps of Caiphas’ house overlooking Jerusalem. Jeff Cavins was giving a talk, and in this talk he was describing how these steps passing the house of Caiphas were the exact ones Jesus walked to the garden of Gethsemane. Being God, Jesus knew that when he walked those steps into Gethsemane, His passion would begin. Still … still … he pushed forward. Why? Because He heard your name … He saw your face…and that love for you kept Him going. It brought Him down those steps, into the garden, back up those steps into Caiphas’ house … and all the way to the hill of Calvary to give everything for us.
How does your Catholic faith inspire you in your art?
My faith is everything when it comes to writing and singing these songs. Without Christ, I am nothing. These songs mean nothing. Life is pointless. But because of the cross, because of Christ’s victory, it gives life and meaning to the words I sing and hopefully to the hearts of those who listen.
What do you have in the works now?
I am currently working on a new EP with Papercastle Records down in Nashville, Tennessee – the title song of which I will be releasing very soon! My hope is to rally some support for this project both financially and musically through a Kickstarter that I will be launching sometime in April or May. Stay tuned!
