Eva shared her experiences in two concentration camps for Holocaust Memorial Day this year.

Eva was only 18 years old when she was taken to her first concentration camp. She recounts that every morning she awoke to the sight of more bodies at the base of the electrified fence — people who had thrown themselves into the fence during the night. When the camp was finally liberated in 1945, the soldiers counted 20,000 unburied corpses.

Eva doesn’t share her story just to shock people. Instead, she hopes that the stories of these horrors will transform the way we relate to each other. She says, “Maybe [the stories] will help to understand what it could come to, if you’re going to hate and destroy each other.”
