On Saturday, December 9, 2017, the Catholic community of Clifton, England, gathered joyfully to witness the ordination of Richard Elson to the Catholic priesthood. He was surrounded by family, friends, and parishioners from the many communities that have accompanied Elson on his spiritual journey towards priesthood. Bishop Declan Lang of the Diocese of Clifton said, “You are called to mirror God’s yes to the world, and so you are anointed a priest, to bring good news to the poor, set prisoners free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor … you are called to be a good Shepherd who knows his sheep … and you’re able to do this because you are able to respond as Peter did when Jesus said to him ‘Do you love me?’ and as Peter said, so you say, ‘Lord, you know all things, you know that I love you.’ …”
