Why “swiping up” to close your apps might do more harm than good (VIDEO)

If you're trying to save battery by force closing your apps, you might want to consider this ...

If you use an iPhone, then you might be in the habit of double-clicking the home button and swiping up on the apps (i.e. force closing) in order to save battery life. But, according to a video from Apple Insider, this might actually be counter-productive.

According to this advice, double clicking on the home button doesn’t actually show you all the apps that are currently open; it shows recently used apps. Therefore,

and could potentially exhaust more battery life due to launching the app more times than necessary.

But there are still other ways to save battery. Here are three alternative tips:

  1. Lower the screen brightness.
  2. Turn on “Low power Mode.”
  3. Disable the background refresh feature in the settings.
