A quick, a cappella “Carol of the Bells” from Cimorelli

The tight harmony of this challenging carol suits the sisters of Cimorelli well.

Cimorelli released “Carol of the Bells” on their 2016 Christmas EP, Christmas Magic, and the video came out at the end of last month. The six sisters of Cimorelli sing the standard arrangement the carol a capella and at a slightly faster tempo.

“Carol of the Bells” is a Ukranian Christmas carol composed by Mykola Leontovych in 1914. It was written around a folk story from pre-Christian Ukrainian times (before 867) in which a swallow flies into a household to proclaim the bountiful year. It was later translated to English and the lyrics took on a Nativity-based theme in 1936.
