Rebecca Roubion released this wonderful lullaby earlier this month, dedicated to her mother and her own unborn baby, who appears in this video. Her breathy, emotional vocal is quick to catch the ear as the quiet melody begins.
The lyrics speak of the beauty of a mother’s love and describe it as “Mighty like a mountain, softer than the sunrise, with tones deeper than the ocean. Soaring high like a dove.” She refers to Mary to describe the unconditional and everlasting love she holds for her child.
Roubion’s folk style is like Carol King meets Regina Spektor. While she is not considered a Christian artist, she alludes to a strong faith with religious themes and often spiritual lyrics. An exceptional pianist, Roubion accompanies herself effortlessly in this intimate performance for her developing child.
