STARTUJE SŁOWEŃSKA ALETEIA

Aleteia - published on 12/09/17

Aleteia.org launches its Slovenian edition, in partnership with Družina Publishers.

A Christmas-lit Ljubljana witnessed the launching ceremony of the Slovenian edition (si.aleteia.org) of Aleteia, a global Catholic network, now available in eight languages around the world

The initiative stems from the collaboration with Družina.si, one of the most important publishing houses in Slovenia, which publishes numerous Christian-inspired journals and magazines, including the weekly Družina (Slovenian for “family”), founded in 1955.

Tone Rode, Družina’s general manager, explains that “Aleteia is an absolutely necessary project in this country, which after overcoming its Communist past, is today facing the challenge of sharing the values of the Gospel in the digital world with the new generations”.

“Research shows that 46 percent of Slovenians do not believe in God. But they do believe in some spiritual force,” Rode explains. “People seek for ‘spirituality’ in the internet and social networks, but they do not necessarily find the answers they are looking for in Christianity. Through Aleteia, we would like to show the beauty of Christian life also in this new areopagus.”

Aleteia reaches around 50 million people a month in social networks, and receives 12 million visitors on the Aleteia.org websites.

The global project, which was launched in 2103 by lay Catholics with the accompaniment of the Pontifical Council for Social Communications, develops its editorial activity in line with the teaching of Pope Francis, in a spirit of collaboration with the Secretariat for Communication of the Holy See. Episcopal conferences, religious orders and some religious communities are among the members of the Board of Directors of the Foundation for Evangelization through Media (FEM), which promotes the initiative.
