Since Mexico’s 7.1 earthquake, the estimated death toll has risen to 326, as reported by Mexico’s civil protection coordinator. The search for victims continues, but there is one special hero who is helping in the search: Frida the rescue dog.

Amidst the worrying reports about the aftermath of the earthquake, videos of Frida and her handler have gone viral, making her a symbol of hope to everyone following reports of the devastation.

In her career as a rescue dog, Frida has saved over 50 lives, partly due to the fact that she can enter spaces less than 20 inches high — places that are inaccessible to humans. Her handler explained to the L.A. Timesthat when the dogs find someone alive, they bark. But if the dogs approach slowly and act afraid, then the victim is likely dead.

After her first search in the aftermath of the earthquake, Frida suffered from exhaustion, but after some rest and water, she’s back to work with her colleagues, Evil and Echo. With their special equipment, including Velcro booties and eye protection, the team won’t stop until every person is accounted for. Let’s pray that God blesses their search efforts with success and healing.
