The primitive hobby that’s defying modern life (VIDEO)

Watch what this blogger makes without the use of modern tools.

Have you ever wondered how humans once made sandals, housing, or even hammers using only natural resources, and without tools like saws, knives, or drills? Well, Primitive Technology is here to help!

Primitive Technology is a blog that explores these kinds of questions. In the wilderness of Australia, the author of this blog builds huts, weapons, a water-powered hammer, and, most recently, sandals, and uploads videos of the process. The variety of skills this requires is impressive, from building a fire from scratch to weaving with vines. In fact, any tool he needs he makes himself using only what he can find, and, as you can see in these videos, he doesn’t even wear shoes or gloves during the process.

The videos exemplify just how slow the process becomes without modern technology. For example, in one video, he builds a fire and waits for a log to be burnt through, because the log is too thick for him to cut with sharp rock. He then must repeat this process until the whole log is split up into the right sized segments.

Though remarkably slow, the process is surprisingly calming to observe. That, combined with the sheer inventiveness of what he’s doing, is likely the reason his most recent video was trending only hours after being posted. Indeed, living in a time in which these processes were necessary would have required a patient temperament from which we all can learn.
