Business Insider put together this hypothetical graphic video that shows what the tracks of a modern day bullet train across America would look like, as well as the difference between traveling on these dream lines and the current system. The bullet trains would travel at 220 mph and could cut the travel time from New York to Las Angeles from 80 hours to a mere 20.
While this is still a far cry from the 6 hours it would take by plane, if you take into account the time it takes to get through airport security before each flight, while planes are still faster, a train may be more convenient.
