The One Voice Children’s Choir is a non-profit organization that provides children the opportunity to cultivate their musical talent and to perform professionally. The group was founded by director Masa Fukuda to perform at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.
The group enjoyed such success at the Olympics that Fukuda kept them together. They group is currently 140 children strong and performs only original works or arrangements. Fukuda composes all music for One Voice.
The choir accepts children as young as five and as old as 18. They have no secondary choir for the young ones, instead they mix all ages and allow the older students to set an example for the rest. They believe the youngest children add a unique sound to the choir
The group was featured in Alex Boyé’s music video for his Africanized tribal cover of Frozen’s “Let It Go,” which gave Lexi Walker her debut. The choir has given similar opportunities to over 500 children since 2002, some of whom have moved on to paying gigs as studio musicians.
