The Monastic Choir of the Abbey of Notre-Dame Fontgombault is part of the Benedictine Solesmes congregation. They release recordings of their Gregorian chant as a means of support for the community, as well as a way to draw vocations.
The Solesmes monks have been in Fontgombault, France, since they aquired the Fontgombault Abby in 1948. Since then they have grown to fill 3 more locations in France and one in America.
They celebrate Mass exclusively in Latin, using the traditional pre-Vatican II rite as in the 1962 Roman Missal.
Salve Regina is a Marian hymn that translates to “Hail Holy Queen.” It is sung during evening prayer from the Saturday before Trinity Sunday until the first Sunday of Advent. Many monastic communities sing the “Salve Regina” as their last daily act of reverence, after the office of Compline.
