Secretary of State Rex Tillerson surprised bikers gathered at the annual Rolling Thunder tribute to U.S. veterans by showing up on his own motorcycle to participate in the Memorial Day event.
Rolling Thunder was started in 1988 as a tribute to war heroes and a call for protection of Prisoners of War (POWs) and those Missing in Action (MIAs). Today over 900,000 people participate in the motorcyle rally. The group, which is a 501 C-4 non-profit, promotes legislation to increase veterans’ benefits and resolve POW/MIA issues. They also provide material support for veterans and veterans’ families.
