These schoolkids nail Bocelli’s classic “Con te partirò”

His 20th anniversary release is as epic as can be

In November 2016, Andrea Bocelli released Romanza: 20th Anniversary Edition. Originally released in 1997, the Romanza album sold more than 12 million copies worldwide and contains “Con te partirò,” which remains his most famous song. A compilation album, Romanza also included the Italian/English duet version of the song with Sarah Brightman, titled “Time to Say Goodbye.” For the 20th Anniversary Edition Bocelli turned to Péter Pejtsik’s Budapest Art Orchestra along with the Children’s Chorus of the Teatro Regio to bring new life to his classic.

The children were an excellent choice for the remake, the freshness of their voices complement Gabriele Roberto’s epic arrangement. Soloist Valentina Escobar has a strong, youthful soprano voice and excellent dictation. When the choir sings the high notes together they almost sound like a second string section.

Andrea Bocelli mused about his 20-year-old album

:

“For me … Romanza is first and foremost the compendium of my personal history and my history as an artist – it is a piece of my heart which, through the miracle of music, I have been able to share with the world.” – Andrea Bocelli
