Hannah Kerr is a freshman artist with a pop sound that is just brimming with promise and potential, which makes her debut album, Overflow, very aptly named. As she describes it on her website:
“The word ‘Overflow’ sums up this whole project,” she says. “Musically, I want what pours out of me to be the overflow of what God is pouring into me. It’s not about my ability or my talent, but about letting God pour truth and wisdom into me and then writing and singing songs that matter.”
“Radiate” was produced and co-written by her brother Josh. The two siblings created a song celebrating the fact that God’s love and light can bring “beauty, out of the ashes”. The accompaniment rotates between trance-like echoing synth with muted guitar, to harder choruses with distorted guitar leads. While the music may “Overflow” it never overwhelms.
Kerr is currently on tour with two of her biggest inspirations: Matt Maher, and Casting Crowns, one of her favorite bands since she was a child. With her incredibly accessible sound, we expect to draw a wide audience. We are looking forward to her next album.
