Listen to the Bach Collegium of Japan, conducted by the legendary Masaaki Suzuki.

Bach’s Passio secundum Joannem (“St. John Passion”) was composed and premiered in 1724 at the Good Friday Vespers in Leipzig’s St. Nikolaus-Kirche. It is a musical re-interpretation of the Gospel text of St. John, and it has been performed ever since, year after year in countless churches and concert halls as part of the Lent and Easter season all throughout the world.

In this presentation of Bach’s St. John Passion, performed by the Bach Collegium Japan in July, 2000 in Tokyo, the audience can appreciate the mastery of Masaaki.
