A Utah girl’s Instagram photos of her bald head have gone viral, as the world shares her inspiring story.
When Gianessa Wride’s mother first noticed that her 7-year old daughter’s hair was falling out, she made an appointment with the dermatologist.
Weeks later, when Gianessa arrived for her appointment, she was completely bald, and the doctor quickly diagnosed her with alopecia, an autoimmune disorder that causes hair loss.
Gianessa’s mother, Danielle Wride, told her, “You have two choices. You can either be sad about it and be miserable, or you can make it into something fun and enjoy it,” reported KUTV.com.
When her school announced it would be holding a “Crazy Hair Day,” Gianessa told her mother she wanted to participate, so the two of them purchased gems and stickers to place on Gianessa’s head.
The results were dazzling.
“When I walked in, everyone was crowding me about the jewels,” Gianessa said.
“You have to teach your kids, life isn’t fair, you have to be able to adapt and change and make it your own,” Daniella Wride told KUTV. “Whatever you’re going through, even if it it’s tough, if you have alopecia, still be confident, be yourself, and bald is beautiful.”
