Comfort in the knowledge ‘You Are For Me’

J-P Mauro - published on 03/29/17

Kate Baumer's intimate cover is soothing to the soul.

Covers are an important part of any artist’s repertoire. Not only will they fill up time, but the songs and artists you cover will tell the audience a lot about who you are as an artist. It is also important to bring something new to a song; no one wants to hear a cookie-cutter repeat of the original work.

Kate Baumer does an excellent job bringing new concepts to Kari Jobe’s original “You Are For Me.” Where

, exuding an anthem feel, Baumer is more intimate, accompanied by a lone acoustic guitar, whose player backs her up with vocals on the choruses. The effect of the former is an impression of realization, while the latter feels like old certainty and strong devotion.

Indeed, Baumer’s devotion does run deep. She wastes no time crediting God for her career in every bio available.

Baumer also decided to sing the second verse in Spanish. What a clever idea for a developing artist, to draw as wide an audience as possible! We were very impressed by Kate’s first EP and we can’t wait to hear what she releases next.
