The joy of the Christians freed from the tyranny of the self-proclaimed Islamic State is contagious, as the images from this video show.
These are Christians from the town of Qaraqosh, south of Mosul, who have been trapped in jihadist terror since June of 2014, when their city fell to ISIS.
They were welcomed by their Christian brothers in Erbil, capital of the autonomous region of Iraqi Kurdistan.
They’ve celebrated this victory with the songs and dances typical of Iraqi festivities in the church of Mar Shimon (St. Simon).
Qaraqosh was freed by the military operations of Iraqi armed forces who are currently fighting for the liberation of Mosul.
The video has been distributed by the Italian agency Askanews.
