“Live from the World” is a new project from Cecilia Music that aims to use music and social media to build bridges among people across the globe, responding to Pope Francis’s invitation at World Youth Day Krakow: “Have the courage to teach people that it is easier to build bridges than to build walls!”
How does it work?
All artists are invited to do a Facebook Live performance from wherever they are in the world. Cecilia will be the meeting point between the artists and the fans, the musicians and music lovers, promoting the live videos and eventually creating a Live Music Map, where you can go to find artists performing live and watch together with other people from around the world.
“Life nowadays tells us that it is much easier to concentrate on what divides us, what keeps us apart. People try to make us believe that being closed in on ourselves is the best way to keep safe from harm. Today, we adults need you to teach us how to live in diversity, in dialogue, to experience multiculturalism not as a threat but an opportunity,” said the Holy Father in Krakow.
At Cecilia, conscious of our international identity and mission, we want to take up Pope Francis’ challenge, which is naturally part of our own mission, the language of music being international.
“Thinking that in this world, in our cities and our communities, there is no longer any room to grow, to dream, to create, to gaze at new horizons – in a word to live – is one of the worst things that can happen to us in life. When we are paralyzed, we miss the magic of encountering others, making friends, sharing dreams, walking alongside others,” continued Pope Francis.
Let’s give life to the dreams of these rising musicians, let’s connect with our brothers and sisters around the world, building bridges with that beautiful gift of God that is music.
Continue to follow Cecilia Music to keep up with our live music project and to connect with other artists and fans from around the world.
