“Ave Verum Corpus” (Hail True Body) is a Eucharistic hymn that dates back to the 14th century and is attributed to Pope Innocent VI. It was sung at the elevation of the host during consecration and frequently used during Benediction of the Sacrament.
The video above features the Daughters of Mary singing “Ave Verum Corpus.” The Daughters of Mary are a young religious congregation founded in the United States in 1984. Their first work is that of reparation to the Sacred Heart, each sister living every day with the intention of returning gratitude to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Their most important work, they say, is adoration of Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament, which is never set aside no matter how pressing the duties of the sisters.
