World Youth Day participants aged 18 and up have a chance to win both international recognition and a trip to Rome if they manage to shoot the best photo or video while there, and share it on social media during the events.
Entering couldn’t be easier — contest participants just need to shoot photos or videos of some special moment in the lead up to, or during, World Youth Day in Poland, and then share them on social media with the hashtag #KrakowToRome.
Aleteia.org will be awarding two prizes: one for the best photo and one for the best video. Five finalists will be selected in each category from the most shared photos and videos on social media.
From those finalists, two winners will then be selected — one for photo, one for video — by an international panel of judges, headed in the Photo category by renowned photographer, Wojciech Grzędziński, and in Video category by the film director, Patryk Vega.
The #KrakowToRome contest is open to Aleteia readers/participants in all of the seven languages in which we publish.
Photos and videos can be shot as young people prepare for World Youth Day in their dioceses, beginning July 18, and during the concluding days in Krakow, July 25-31, with Pope Francis. To participate in the contest, candidates must submit their entries no later than August 10, 2016.
Candidates can submit photos and videos on these social networks:
- Facebook: by adding to the photo or video the tag #KrakowToRome
- Twitter: by publishing the photo or video with the hashtag #KrakowToRome
- Instagram: by publishing the photo with the hashtag #KrakowToRome
- Youtube: by inserting #KrakowToRome into the video title.
The authors of the best photo and video will win a free trip to Rome, including flight and accommodation for six days (five nights).
