The talented Christina Grimmie was on her way to stardom when her life was cut short by an obsessed fan who murdered the 22-year-old pop singer while she signed autographs at The Plaza Live Theater in Orlando, Florida, after a performance on June 11. Grimmie’s brother managed to tackle the shooter, who then turned the gun on himself.
Grimmie, who became a YouTube sensation in the summer of 2009, and then a finalist on a recent season of The Voice, was outspoken about her Christian faith. In an article on her website, Grimmie wrote:
“We need to be awoken to the magnitude of the gospel every day. Where do we start? Let’s do what Jesus says… Even if we lose our lives, there is nothing more important that following Jesus with everything that we are. If you have read this, God is pursuing you. My fervent prayer is that we all may deeply know Jesus and know what he demands when He says ‘Follow Me.’ May our eyes be opened to know exactly what it means when we say ‘I am a Christian.'”
Grimmie had garnered attention for this beautiful rendition of “In Christ Alone.” Her faith and talent will undoubtedly inspire her loved ones and fans for many years to come.
