Love Will Not Lose Heart: For Parents of Children Who Have Fallen Away

Hope Unite ft. Trey Heffinger - published on 06/03/16

"Wait for You"

I will stay right here and love you til it hurts. I’ll wait for you.

Most of us find ourselves here at some point: a loved one has fallen away from the faith. For parents it’s even more heart-wrenching. You’re flooded with doubts: Where did I go wrong? Was I too overbearing? Or not enough? Am I not praying enough?

Probably the number one prayer request I hear when I’m traveling is ‘please pray for my son/daughter, because they have fallen away from God,’” says the song’s co-writer Sarah Hart(whose new album we will be featuring later this week).

Her advice for these parents? “The first rule of love is this one: love is patient. We are all fallen children who have wandered from God once or twice (or a few thousand times)…and God’s patient love has waited for us. That’s my prayer for parents; remember how patient God has been with you, how much love has been in that patience, and keep the same; don’t lose heart for your children. God holds them all in his gentle grip.”

“Wait for You” was written by Sarah Hart together with Trey Heffinger, who performs the song in the video above at Hope Community Church. We encourage you to listen and to read the lyrics; we pray the song strengthens you with hope.
