As we’ve gotten older, who could’ve known that we’d find each other?
Moriah Peters auditioned for American Idol when she was a senior in high school. Initially, she didn’t have any interest in auditioning, but her mother – after much prayer – encouraged her to give it a shot.
She made it through the months of initial auditions and found herself face to face with the celebrity judges. They complimented her voice and her look, and then noted: “So we see on your bio here that you’ve never kissed anybody. We see here that you teach a girls bible study…You’re trying to be too perfect. I think you need to go out into the world and makes some mistakes and get some life experience and then come back. You need to go out and kiss somebody and that’ll make you feel sexier.”
She walked out of the audition feeling a mix of emotions: Why did I waste my time on this? I could have been going to prom with my friends. At the same time, she knew God had a plan: He had opened all the doors up until that point, and now the door was closed. He must have a greater plan.
It only took about two minutes for God to reveal that plan to her. As she exited the building a man came chasing after her and said, “I’m a believer and I heard what you said, and I heard you singing through the doors and I want you to meet somebody.” She was quickly signed to a label and has since produced two successful albums.
And her first kiss? See it for yourself in the video above.
