Today’s feature song comes from Italian artist Debora Vezzani and is based on the text of Psalm 139. We had the chance to speak with Debora and ask her about the story behind the song, and what kind of advice she had for those who are going through a dark time and feel discouraged:
In the past I suffered greatly because I held to two beliefs, which no one but God was able to dismount: I felt that I belonged to no one and that I was worthless.
I think that at the base of our suffering there is this idea of being worthless, or worth very little, and the idea of not deserving happiness.
Knowing that your biological mother abandoned you, seeing your parents separate, and then being left by your own husband – all of these things make it difficult to want to live. I thought I was a waste, a throwaway that no one wanted.
Nothing would help me – not a psychologist, not friends – only God. It was Psalm 139 that made me realize I am His daughter, that in his eyes I am a masterpiece, a wonder.
My advice? Don’t trust in your fears and your sadness! We are sons and daughters of a God that rose from the dead; we are passionately loved and nothing can take our joy away!
