A Song that Captures the Joy of the Gospel

The Vigil Project ft. Greg&Lizzy - published on 04/13/16

"Seeking and Saving"

You’re raising up my heart from the dead.

If you’ve been following our coverage of the seven part video series by the Vigil Projectthroughout Lent and Easter, you’ll notice a change in their penultimate song, “Seeking and Saving.” It just…so…fun! (Cue lights, banjo, percussion.)

In the words of artists Greg&Lizzy, “It’s a song of celebration, celebrating that Jesus is risen, and it’s a time to rejoice. In the gospel Jesus came for us, he came for the lost, for you and me.”

The style of the song reflects a theme that Pope Francis has brought to the forefront of his papacy: the joy of the Gospel. We can’t be “sourpusses,” and we “must never look like someone who has just come back from a funeral!” he says.We have to be fully convinced of the victory that has been won for us!

“The song, it’s got a lot of fun in it,” continue Greg&Lizzy. “And I feel like celebration should be fun. We want to have a good time. We want to have a real celebration of the fact that Christ has come to seek and save the lost, and that’s something we’re celebrating.”
