Here at Ceciliawe have been bringing you a series of Divine Mercy songs. Today we continue the theme with a little Latin twist: “Lamb of God” by Los Cristeros.
Los Cristeros is an interfaith collaborative between C2six, a Catholic, and Nate G, his Protestant counterpart, both from Fort Worth, TX. They met as their paths were continually crossing at local music venues, church outreaches, and car shows. Having similar styles and sharing much of the same fan base they released collaborative songs that were well received. They thought it would be a unique opportunity to show ecumenical unity within the Body of Christ and do so with a Latino hip-hop twist.
The Los Cristeros project is a heavily Latino-infused Christian hip-hop album. While every song focuses on one particular pillar of faith, be it grace or mercy, they wanted to create a song that was explicitly about Jesus and his redemptive work at the cross, and thus “Lamb of God” came about. C2six says of the song, “We hope when people hear Lamb of God they pause, if but for a moment, and consider the magnitude of God’s love for us.”
