If you’re reading this, I’m sure you know exactly who Eduardo Verastegui is; but just in case you don’t know about the so-called “Brad Pitt of Mexico,” who has given his career to God, we wrote about him here.
Eduardo, who has been away from music for a while, made his return with a song dedicated to Pope Francis just in time for the papal journey to Mexico, Eduardo’s home country.
The song is one of friendship: “Friendship is a great gift. A good friend will always be your brother!” He describes the qualities of a good friend throughout the song: “Something I learned in this life, is to let love guide my days. I learned that a friend is someone who is always with you whatever happens.”
The song also describes the Holy Father: “Your word always opens the way for me. … Your goodness is an example that opens borders and banishes fear.”
Fitting words for the pope’s journey, with its focus on the poor and marginalized, particularly those in indigenous communities and those near the border plagued by violence and disorder.
