I want to be everything you want of me.
How hard is it to accept the will of another when it is opposed to ours, especially when it comes to the big decisions.
Everyone experiences these conflicts, these clashes.
At first we feel angry. We don’t want to see the other’s point of view. Sometimes we simply don’t want to listen, and we shut ourselves off to any idea or any way other than our own.
Why do I have to do what’s good for other people? Why do I have to do what they want? What about what I want?
Sometimes, after a few days and a few nights of restless sleep, we think things over. The anger subsides and makes room for a more objective and open view of things.
And what if the other person loves me and cares about my happiness? Then can I take into account his or her point of view?
Taylor Tripodi told us a little about the inspiration behind her song:
“I wrote the song ‘Here I Am’ at a time in my life when I was struggling just to submit to the will of the Lord. Sometimes it can just be hard to say, ‘Here I am, Lord, do with me what you will’ when the road ahead is uncertain and you have to put your trust in someone you can’t always ‘feel’ or see. It’s a song and prayer of surrender, saying, ‘Lord, I give in to your love, and I surrender to your will and plan for my life.’ I hope that in hearing these words, people will be able to enter into this prayer and that they will be able to find confidence in the plan that the Lord has for all of us.”
