The Revolution Has Begun

Mathias Michael - published on 01/20/16

"Amplified"

“Let the whole world hear this time. Together we are amplified.”

Two revolutions have begun, actually. The first one, called Cecilia, started November 22. We want to revolutionize the soundtrack of our culture. We want to promote real artists who speak the truth, who create beautiful music, who inspire.

Today we’re proud to bring you an exclusive Cecilia world premiere, our very first. And we couldn’t be happier with our pick:

Meet Mathias Michael. The son of a professional musician, he grew up immersed in the sounds of music. “At a very young age, I would cry when I heard sad music, laugh when I heard a comical tune and cringe when I heard a bad note. It’s always been kind of obvious that music is my passion.”

He spent his spare time as a child fine-tuning his skills and learning to play new instruments. After attending his first retreat in high school, where Matt Maher happened to be leading worship, he felt a call to use his talents doing the same. He began ministering through music whenever possible, and by his senior year he was writing his own songs.

But he still never considered a career as a musician. That is, until he went to the National Catholic Youth Conference. There he won the first ever “Top Talent” competition sponsored by Heartbeat records. The prize? The opportunity to record an album … and a new direction in Mathias’s life. Now, four years later, he has a couple of albums under his belt and tours the country playing concerts, retreats and conferences.

His latest album’s title song, “Amplified,” was inspired during one of his summers leading worship at Catholic Heart Work Camp. These camps, in 50 cities across the U.S., give high schoolers the opportunity to serve the neglected, brokenhearted and marginalized in their communities.

At the camp, Mathias saw and experienced the truth of the phrase “no man is an island.” Our lives are all connected. Like Mother Teresa said, “I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the water to create many ripples.” Everything we do, for good or for bad, spills over into the lives around us. And when we work together for good to share the love of Christ, we can bring entire communities to know and experience his love. This is the second revolution: a revolution of Christ’s love.

“May the hundred voices here reach a thousand listening ears. Together we are amplified.” Go out today and spread God’s merciful love. We’ve said it before: Ruin the world for Christ, and bring others along with you. Be the feet, the hands, the eyes, the mouth, the heart of Christ in the world.

The revolution has begun.

You can purchase “Amplified” on iTunes, and if you’re looking for inspiration on how to start your own revolution, check out Mathias Michael’s daily devotional: “Amplified: 7 Weeks of Living Out Loud.”
