In this Jubilee Year, let us allow God to surprise us. He never tires of casting open the doors of his heart and of repeating that he loves us and wants to share his love with us.
—Pope Francis, Papal Bull of Indiction announcing the Jubilee Year of Mercy
The Archdiocese of St. Louis is celebrating the Year of Mercy with many activities centered around forgiveness. The Church has a unique capacity to offer souls true forgiveness through the sacraments.
“We realize that people are on the other side of a screen for most of their day nowadays. If we want to evangelize, catechize, inform and reach them where they are — we, the Church, have to be on the other side of that screen …” says Lisa Johnston, new-media journalist for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.
The archdiocese has released the first in a series of videos, which are short and to the point, little nuggets of inspiration, taken directly from Scripture.
“Our hope is that, through this series, we will provide a visual reminder of that love, that mystery, that mercy that exists only in our Lord, Jesus Christ, and which can only be attained through a relationship with Him and His Church,” says Johnston.
