After his work at the synod yesterday, Pope Francis paid a visit to a group of homeless men staying in a new dormitory recently opened at the Vatican by Papal Charities, staffed by the Missionaries of Charity.
The video offers a peek into the facility, which can accommodate up to 34 men at a time. There are bunks as well as personal cabinets with padlocks, and other living and gathering spaces for the guests.
The pope greets everyone in Italian, saying, “Thank you very much; pray for me; may the Lord bless you.” Many of the guests, as they meet the Holy Father, made brief comments to him, promising him their prayers, thanking him for his hospitality, and even making jokes about Argentina, Naples, and pizza.
