This post is not about a woman’s legal right to an abortion, or a baby’s legal right to life. It’s about the state of our common humanity. It’s about our refusal to acknowledge visceral wickedness for the sake of sticking to our shallow political ideology. It’s about Planned Parenthood intentionally harvesting and distributing body parts of aborted babies.
The topic of abortion, and in particular this disturbing news about Planned Parenthood, hits so close to home for me. Just moments ago I put my 11-month old son to sleep, a child who could easily have been an aborted ‘fetus;’ a baby whose body parts could have been distributed to a market in human body parts. I never truly considered abortion, but there are thousands of women every year who have been in my same situation who did have abortions. Whatever check off ‘consent’ Planned Parenthood may claim, I doubt these women really consider that their abortion is integrated in a profit making supply chain for fetal body parts. This cannot be compared to an adult consent to donate body parts at death; this is a living unborn innocent who cannot consent to sacrifice his or her life.
Performing abortions is a sick way to make a profit in the first place, but harvesting human body parts by abortion techniques designed to preserve the most in-demand fetal organs; then offering them to researchers in exchange for cash while claiming technical compliance with laws prohibiting the sale of body parts is despicable – truly evil.
Yet, that doesn’t seem to dissuade Dr. Nucatola or the rest of the Planned Parenthood organization from doing exactly that. Even worse, our government, and all of us as taxpayers, fund the enterprise of killing babies with the specific intent and practice of distributing their body parts. I’ll say that again – the government forces all taxpayers to donate to Planned Parenthood, which netted $127 million in profit last year.
The distribution of torn-apart unborn babies is sickening enough, but what is even more disturbing is that physicians performing abortions actually manipulate their procedures to ‘protect’ the valuable (read: most profitable) body parts of this then-living child. What they should be protecting is that baby’s life; isn’t that a doctor’s oath?
This is a message that needs to be heard. People need to start talking about these issues, confronting the morality of this wickedness. For the sake of our common humanity this horrible practice must be stopped. How is it possible that a woman can talk specifically about the ‘extraction’ and sale of a dismembered human body while nonchalantly eating her lunch?
It horrifies me that the now-dominant culture can consider an emergent life, the life of my beautiful son, as a commodity to be harvested, bought and sold. Am I alone in being outraged that this gruesome business has somehow become acceptable in today’s culture?
