Just in time for this year’s Feast of Divine Mercy, this award-winning movie about the mystical life of St. Maria Faustina, the "Apostle of Divine Mercy," was released in March 2015 on DVD. It tells the story of Faustina’s experience as a nun in Poland in the early 20th century when Jesus appeared to her and asked her to be his instrument to promote devotion to his Divine Mercy. The film is based on the diaries of Sr. Faustina, who was canonized by Pope John Paul II in 2000 as the first saint of the new millennium. Directed by Jerzy Lukaszewicz, the film stars actress Dorota Segda who received critical acclaim by European film critics for her portrayal of Sister Faustina.
